Dr. Abhijt Dutta is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Chemistry. He completed his education at Assam University, culminating in a Ph.D. awarded in February 2019. Dr. Dutta’s doctoral research focused on the structure, reactivity, electronic, and catalytic properties of small rhodium clusters and their alloy clusters with d-block transition metals using a density functional theory approach. Dr. Dutta has diverse research and academic experience, having served as a Guest Faculty member at Assam University, a post-doctoral fellow at Hong Kong Baptist University, and currently as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry under the Department of Higher Education, Assam. His work includes computational studies on molecular machines and various teaching roles, accumulating significant experience in each position.

🎓Educational Details:

Dr. Abhijt Dutta has a strong academic background in the field of Chemistry. He completed his Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate (H.S.L.C) from SEBA in 2004, achieving a first division with 75.66% marks. He then pursued his Higher Secondary (10+2) education from A.H.S.E.C, where he studied Bengali, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, securing a second division with 55% marks in 2007. Dr. Dutta graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Chemistry from Assam University in 2010, attaining a first division with 70% marks. He continued his studies at Assam University and earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Chemistry, focusing on an organic project, in 2012 with 67.5% marks, also in the first division. He further advanced his academic pursuits by completing a Ph.D. at Assam University. His research focused on the structure, reactivity, electronic and catalytic properties of bare and supported small rhodium clusters and their selected alloy clusters with some d-block transition metals, using a density functional theory approach. Dr. Dutta was awarded his Ph.D. in February 2019.

👨‍🏫Professional Experience:

Dr. Abhijt Dutta has accumulated valuable research and academic experience throughout his career. He began as a Guest Faculty member in the Department of Educational Science at Assam University, Silchar, where he gained approximately 12 months of experience from 2018 to 2019. Following this, Dr. Dutta undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong. During his tenure there, he conducted a computational study on molecular machines, which he completed over a period of 7.5 months in 2020. In 2021, Dr. Dutta was offered a research associate position at the Shenzhen Research Institute. Unfortunately, he was unable to accept this opportunity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, he is serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry under the Department of Higher Education, Assam. He has accumulated around three years of experience in this role and continues to contribute to the academic community.

Dr. Abhijt Dutta has received several awards and recognitions for his contributions to the field of Chemistry. He was honored with the InSc Young Achiever Award by the Institute of Scholars (InSc). Dr. Dutta is also an active reviewer for various international and national journals, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to advancing scientific research. In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Dutta is a regular member of the Scholars Academy & Scientific Society, Assam, India. He serves as the President of the Assam Science Society Patharkandi Unit and is involved with several non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Furthermore, he is a member of the Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers and the Assam College Teachers Association. Dr. Dutta also holds an executive position on the Children’s Science Congress Committee, reflecting his dedication to fostering scientific curiosity and education among young students.
