Prof. Michel Faure | Geodynamics | Editorial Board Member

University of Orléans | France

Prof. Michel Faure is an internationally recognized structural geologist and tectonicist whose research has profoundly shaped modern understanding of continental crust evolution, orogenic processes, and geodynamic reconstruction across Europe and Asia. His scientific contributions span crustal deformation, metamorphic transformations, magmatic processes, intracontinental orogeny, and accretionary tectonics, with major field investigations in the Variscan belt of Europe, South China, Indochina, the Central Asian Orogenic Belt, and the East Eurasian margin. He has produced influential models explaining crustal thickening, orogenic collapse, high-pressure–ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism, syntectonic magmatism, and the interplay of strike-slip, thrusting, and extensional regimes during large-scale continental convergence and reworking. His collaborations in China, Vietnam, Japan, Mongolia, Corsica, and the French Massif Central have yielded integrative tectonic frameworks widely adopted by the global geoscience community. A prolific author with exceptional scholarly output, he has published more than 320 peer-reviewed papers, 30 excursion guidebooks, and numerous thematic works that continue to influence academic research and applied geological studies. His bibliometric standing is notable: Scopus records over 19,308 citations from 9,345 citing documents, 290 indexed publications, and an h-index of 77, while Google Scholar reports more than 11,426 citations and an h-index of 58, reflecting his long-standing impact and international leadership in Earth Sciences. His expertise extends to editorial responsibilities across major journals, special issues, and scientific boards, particularly within tectonics, structural geology, and geodynamics. His exceptional record makes him an exemplary candidate for top-tier geoscience distinctions honoring research excellence, innovation, and global contribution. His continued involvement as an Editorial Board Member strengthens scientific quality, international collaboration, and the advancement of tectonic research worldwide.
