Dr. Amar Jassim , Marine science center/University of Basrah, Iraq
Dr. Amar Yasser Jassim is a lecturer at the Marine Science Center, University of Basrah, Iraq, specializing in environmental nanoscience and nanotoxicology. He earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology Environmental Nanosciences from the University of South Carolina in 2022. Prior to that, he completed a Master’s in Biotechnology in 2010 and a Bachelor’s in Food and Dairy Technology in 2001, both from the University of Basrah. Dr. Jassim’s research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials for biomedical applications. In collaboration with other researchers, he published a study titled “Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials of copper titanium oxides and evaluation of multiple biomedical applications (antibacterial, anti-biofilm, anti-cancer, and effects on hospital-acquired pneumonia)” in the journal RSC Advances. This research explored the potential of Cu₂Ti₂O₅ nanoparticles as antimicrobial agents capable of penetrating bacterial membranes and disrupting biofilms, highlighting their selectivity and potential in biological and pharmaceutical applications.
